The O-U-R Teachers Alliance was officially established in 2025, driven by an immediate need to unify the rapidly growing number of globally-experienced K–12 educators working across the United States. Its history is not one of slow, regional expansion, but a swift, values-driven mobilization that transcended state lines from day one.

The Alliance's genesis was not in a single city, but in a virtual, high-level realization among a diverse group of founding teachers: the challenges faced by international educators—navigating state-specific licensing, adapting curricula, and fostering cultural understanding—were nearly universal across the U.S.

United by the core principles of Observing with care, Understanding with empathy, and Respecting every learner (O-U-R), they formed the Alliance with the goal of being a unified, collaborative home for educators who had immigrated to the U.S. and were currently teaching in almost all states. This immediate, national scope defined the Alliance's identity, making it the premier network for teachers who bring a vital international perspective to American education.

In its founding months, the O-U-R Teachers Alliance focused on rapidly deploying digital infrastructure to create a single, cohesive community from coast to coast. This effort was immediately successful, transforming the isolation often felt by international teachers into a powerful national network.

Key programs developed within the first year include:

• The Multi-State Professional Hub: The Alliance's core function is to facilitate networking among teachers working in wildly different educational environments—from the largest urban districts to the most remote rural schools across the country. This platform allows members to share insights on everything from local union practices to regional cultural norms.
• The Scalable Newcomer Support System: To support the continuous flow of international talent, the Alliance deployed a scalable mentorship program.
